Investigation of Social Modulations of Gaze by Dual Eye Tracking
We often notice how the presence of others can affect our perception in various ways in daily life. We might see someone looking at us from far away or find a face staring back at us in a reflection without realizing how long it has been there, sometimes causing a momentary startle. Nevertheless, current research has yet to establish a systematic understanding of how social interactions shape our perceptual organization. The proposed project aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of social modulations of gaze under various social presence conditions across a wide range of tasks, focusing on visual processes in the fovea and the periphery.
The project has been funded by National Science Center (NCN) of Poland, 2025-2028.
Cognitive Aspects of Interaction and Communication in Natural and Artificial Agents
Interaction and communication in natural agents (such as humans, animals) and artificial agents (such as robots, virtual avatars) have been subject to intense research across various fields of research related to cognitive science and relevant fields. The project mainly focuses on Human Robot Interaction and Social Robotics, but also the topics that surround interaction and communication from the perspective of cognitive science, such as reading and language processing.
The project has been funded by Jagiellonian University, Strategic Programme Excellence Initiative DigiWorld Digital Humanities (2022-2026)
Eye movements in reading
Ongoing research, for more than 10 years, on eye movements in reading in different languages. Recently, this topic has been run in collaboration with the EU COST action MultiplEYE Enabling multilingual eye-tracking data collection for human and machine language processing research.
